How booking works

BarrelFare is a search tool for surf trips: it finds routes where a good forecast and a cheap fare line up. When you're ready to buy, the app hands you to the seller (Google Flights, the airline, or a travel agency) and you complete the purchase on their site, paying them directly. As the app itself says: we don't sell tickets, pick where to buy.

That means BarrelFare never takes payment for flights, adds no fees or markup, and holds no reservation in your name. Your ticket, confirmation email, and booking reference all come from the airline or agency you bought from.

Changes, cancellations, and flight refunds

Because your purchase is with the airline or agency, changes, cancellations, and refunds are handled entirely by them, under the fare rules you accepted at purchase. Your confirmation email tells you who to contact. BarrelFare has no access to your booking and cannot modify or refund a ticket. But if you're not sure who you bought from or where to start, email us and we'll help you figure it out.

Prices shown in the app

Fares marked with a tilde (like ~$374) are estimates from recent and cached searches: they're there to show you which routes and dates look cheap, not to quote a bookable price. The live price appears on the seller's site before you pay, and it can differ from the estimate. If a price looks badly wrong, tell us. Screenshots help.

BarrelFare Pro subscription

BarrelFare Pro is $49.99 per year with a 14-day free trial, or $5.49 per month (no trial on monthly). The subscription is purchased through Apple and billed to your App Store account: nothing is charged during the annual plan's trial, and the annual price is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel first.

• Cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or in the app: You tab → Manage subscription). Cancelling stops the next charge but does not refund the current period.
• Refunds for subscriptions are handled by Apple under its policies: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Restore purchases is in the You tab if your subscription isn't showing on a new device.

Your account

BarrelFare requires an account (Sign in with Apple, Google, or email + password) so your saved spots, home airport, and alerts sync. In the You tab → Account you can sign out (keeps your account and saves) or delete your account, which permanently removes your account and saved data from our servers and can't be undone. You can also email us to request deletion.

Deal alerts and emails

Deal alerts are a push notification the moment a fare drops to a spot you follow; the weekly digest is an email of the week's best deals from your home airport. Both are optional: turn them on or off in the You tab → Alerts, or use the one-click unsubscribe link in any email.

App problems and feedback

Found a bug, a wrong price, or a surf spot we should add? Email [email protected]. Screenshots help. Surf forecasts and fare estimates come from third-party data and can go stale between refreshes.
