Arugam Bay (Main Point) surf guide
The wave. Main Point is a right-hand point at Arugam Bay on Sri Lanka's east coast, a walk from the town, and one of the most popular surf spots in the country. Most rides run 50 to 150 m, and on big swells lines can run toward Baby Point. Arugam Bay has hosted most of Sri Lanka's international surf contests since 2004.
Who it suits. On normal days it suits intermediates, and guides rate it advanced when the swell is full. Beginners learn at Baby Point, the softer inside section by the town beach.
