Spirit Airlines began an orderly wind-down of ALL operations on 2026-05-02; all flights cancelled and customer service discontinued (confirmed on spiritrestructuring.com, the official wind-down site that all spirit.com/customersupport.spirit.com support pages now 301-redirect to). Boards cannot be flown on Spirit as of 2026-07-03. For reference, the final Contract of Carriage (content.spirit.com, updated April 30, 2026, section 7.5) stated: surfboards accepted for a special charge per direction; one bag containing up to two surfboards accepted for the same price; oversize limits/charges and overweight charges waived for surfing equipment (exempt from the general 80-linear-inch limit); additional items packed inside a surfboard case charged separately; skeg fins/kedges removed or protected; limited liability release required; carry-on not permitted; general 100-lb baggage cap applied; Dec 1-Jan 10 international embargo on items over 80 linear inches including surfboards.
