Regional (turboprop) services within New Zealand: max dimensions 1.8m length x 0.8m width x 1.20m height — boards over 1.8m cannot fly on regional aircraft. Jet aircraft absolute maximum length 2.5m; the 2.2m low-volume exception (fishing rods, skis) does not name surfboards. Absolute max weight 32kg. A single sporting item packed in more than one bag counts as one piece and sports bags may contain more than one piece of related equipment, but no explicit boards-per-bag number is stated. No seasonal embargo or pre-notification requirement stated.

What is Air New Zealand's surfboard size limit?
Sporting items less than 2m (78.7in) long and up to 23kg (50lb) count as a standard bag; maximum oversize length on jet aircraft is 2.5m (98.4in) (pure length); regional turboprop maximum length 1.8m (70.9in).
Does a board bag count as a checked bag on Air New Zealand?
