Jetstar takes surfboards with no published fee figure.
The fine print
Any item with a single side longer than 1m (1000mm/39in) including wheels, handles, packaging is oversized. Board weight counts toward purchased checked baggage allowance (e.g. 15kg suitcase + 10kg board bag requires at least 25kg purchased). Maximum two oversized items per passenger per flight; no single item over 32kg even with 35/40kg allowance. Pack in a bag designed for the equipment; remove fins where possible or tape to board. Does Jetstar charge for surfboards?
Jetstar publishes no fee figure for boards. An oversized item handling fee applies per oversized item, per flight, paid in addition to purchased checked baggage allowance; exact current AUD amount could not be retrieved (jetstar.com blocks page fetches and the fee schedule was not visible in official-domain snippets; fees-and-charges page also references a fee increase scheduled 2026-07-17). Jetstar has no free checked allowance: the board's weight must be covered by purchased checked kg.
What is Jetstar's surfboard size limit?
Oversized items must be under 2.3m including the surfboard bag (A320/A321 fleet: all domestic and some international flights); 2.77m on Boeing 787 Jetstar Airways (JQ) international flights.
Does a board bag count as a checked bag on Jetstar?
Yes. The board bag takes one of your checked-bag allowances, so standard checked bag pricing applies.
