The waves at Alaïa Bay

Alaïa Bay opened in 2021. It is an outdoor pool on Wavegarden Cove.

Rookie / Rookie Rider beginner, 2.3-2.6 ftSoft 0.7 to 0.8 m waves for learning to paddle, pop up and ride sideways.
Cruiser / Intermediate Cruiser intermediate, 3.3-3.9 ftGentle angled waves, with hollow take-offs at the 1.2 m setting.
Advanced Turn / Expert Turn advanced, 5.2-5.6 ftFast, hollow 1.6 to 1.7 m waves for shortboard speed and turns.
Mega Turn expert, 5.9 ftThe park's largest wave, fast and hollow at 1.8 m.
Expert Barrel / Mega Barrel expert, 5.6 ftFast 1.7 m barrels and slabs. Helmets are mandatory.

When to go

The 2026 season opened on 3 April. The park closes November through February, and July and August are the warmest months.

The water is not heated. It runs from about 9 to 12 C in March and April to 21 to 26 C in July and August.

Wear a 5/3 or 5/4 with boots and gloves at 7 to 12 C, and a 4/3 or 3/2 at 15 to 20 C.

Boards, wetsuits and lessons

Board hire costs extra. Wetsuit hire costs extra.

Coached sessions include gear. Otherwise softboards cost CHF 10 a session and wetsuits CHF 10 a day.

Coached sessions for Rookie to Cruiser include instructors and all equipment.
