RiF010 opened in 2024. It is an outdoor pool on city-centre river wave.

• Rookie beginner, 3.3 ftA soft 1.0 m wave for surfers learning to ride a board.
• Progressie intermediate, 3.9 ftA 1.2 m right for surfers moving past the basics.
• Intermediate / Advanced advanced, 4.4-4.9 ftA 1.35 to 1.5 m right-hander for confident surfers.
• Expert / Expert Barrel expert, 5.2 ftA 1.6 m right. The Barrel setting focuses on tube riding.

When to go

Open all year on a weekly schedule: Monday to Friday 11:00 to 20:00, weekends 10:00 to 20:00.

The canal water is not heated, and summer is the warmest time to surf.

In April and late season, bring a winter wetsuit, cap and boots.

Boards, wetsuits and lessons

Board hire is included in the session.

Sessions include softtops. Surfers who handle the 1.2 m wave alone can rent other boards.

RiF010 runs group lessons for beginners and private coaching with at most 2 surfers per coach.

Book online and arrive 45 minutes early. Children must be 8 or older with a swimming diploma.

Getting there and where to stay

AMS is the practical arrival for most travellers and is about 45 minutes by train.

North Sea beaches run north from the Europoort mouth to Scheveningen, within easy reach of Rotterdam.
