The waves at Wave Park

Wave Park opened in 2020. It is an outdoor pool on Wavegarden Cove.

Bay free surf (Lv.1 lesson zone) beginner, 2 ftSoft whitewater in the shallow Bay, with rides of 8 to 10 seconds.

When to go

The 2026 season runs 25 April to 31 October. The peak weeks are 25 July to 17 August, and the park closes for winter.

Steam from a waste-to-energy plant heats the water to about 20 C in the cool months. It reaches the high 20s in summer.

The operator asks surfers to wear a wetsuit for warmth and protection, and suits rent on site.

Boards, wetsuits and lessons

Board hire costs extra. Wetsuit hire costs extra.

Soft boards rent for 9,000 KRW an hour and hard boards for 18,000 to 19,000 KRW. Wetsuits cost 10,000 to 15,000 KRW, and helmets are free.

Five lesson levels run 1 hour 25 minutes, with up to 10 surfers per coach. Levels 1 to 3 include board and suit.

Book online at wavepark.co.kr with a free account. Visa, Mastercard, JCB and UnionPay work. Surfers must be at least 140 cm tall.

Getting there and where to stay

ICN is 50 to 60 minutes away by taxi, which makes this one of the best stopover pools in Asia.

From Incheon Airport, a taxi takes 50 to 60 minutes. From Seoul, take subway Line 4 or the Suin-Bundang Line to Jeongwang, then bus 28, 29 or 33.

On-site caravans sleep 2 to 4 people, from 130,000 KRW a night between March and November.

Yangyang on the east coast is the nearest consistent ocean surf, about 2 to 3 hours by car.

Check in at the safety briefing 30 minutes before your slot.
A reservation-only shuttle runs from Gangnam, the Express Bus Terminal and Sadang.
