Flying with a surfboard on Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air publishes no clear surfboard policy. Call before you book.

Policy as published by the airline, verified 15 October 2026. Airline's own policy page

Board fee Not published No board fee is published. Each piece of sporting equipment is a checked bag with the normal bag fee per person, per bag, per segment (fee varies by route and when you buy it). Sports equipment up to 126 linear in and 70 lb has no oversize or overweight charge. General bag surcharges: oversize 80 to 115 in $75; overweight 51 to 70 lb $50; 71 to 100 lb $75.
Size limit No surfboard rule published. General sports equipment: up to 126 linear in / 319 cm and 70 lb / 32 kg with no oversize or overweight charge No official Allegiant page names surfboards. The Contract of Carriage (effective July 21, 2026) and the Terms and Conditions give a general sports equipment rule: no oversize charge up to 126 linear in / 319 cm, and items over 126 linear in are not accepted. That rule does not name surfboards, so the field stays null. Normal checked bags are limited to 80 linear in; 80 to 115 in costs a $75 oversize charge.

The fine print

Allegiant does not list surfboards. The baggage page lists accepted sporting equipment (bowling, golf, hockey, fishing, snow skis or one snowboard, water skis, skateboards, archery, scuba) and surfboards are not in the list. If Allegiant accepts a board, it is sporting equipment and counts as one checked bag. Call Allegiant before you book. Official pages: Baggage page: 'Each piece of sporting equipment will be considered a checked bag with all applicable fees applied per person, per bag, per segment.' Contract of Carriage 65.2.4: 'Sports equipment measuring one hundred twenty-six (126) linear inches or three hundred nineteen (319) linear centimeters or less will not incur an oversize baggage charge. Carrier will not accept sports equipment measuring greater than one hundred twenty-six (126) linear inches or three hundred nineteen (319) linear centimeters in size.' 65.2.5: 'Sports equipment weighing seventy (70) pounds or thirty-two (32) kilograms or less will not incur an excess weight baggage fee.'

Will your bag clear it?

Allegiant Air publishes a length figure rather than a linear cap, so the comparison depends on your bag's own numbers. Check your exact bag: we hold the measured dimensions of 128 board bags and print a verdict per airline.

Airline policies change without notice, and the operating carrier's policy is the one that counts, not the airline that sold the ticket. Confirm on the airline's baggage page before you fly. Fees across all 61 carriers: which airlines charge for a board. Size math: every bag against every limit.

The fee is half the cost. The fare is the other half.

BarrelFare watches round-trip fares to 114 surf breaks against the forecast, and can hide the flights that will not take your board. The board fee only hurts when the fare was already bad.
